Renaming of the Louisa Swain Federal Office Building

Honoring Louisa’s Legacy

Mary Mountain and Governor Mark Gordon were photographed at the official dedication of the Louisa Swain Federal Office Building.

The capstone of our dynamic 2022 was the realization of Senator Cynthia Lummis' vision and bill to have a federal building honoring Wyoming's pioneering woman, Louisa Swain, first woman voting on equal terms with men. The Federal building, located at 308 West 21st Street in Cheyenne, now officially heralds Wyoming’s remarkable history as the Louisa Swain Federal Office Building.

October 27, 2022, marked the official dedication on an all-too-common blustery day in Cheyenne. Spirits were high as the the impressive marker was unveiled, captured in a photograph below featuring Sen. Lummis standing with Mary Mountain, LSF Executive Director, Shea Loper, former LSF Board Chair, and LSF Board Directors Punch Williamson and Joney Wilmot.
